There can be few – if any – other dining establishments touting themselves as “charcuterie bar” but Salt Yard in Goodge St carries it off with aplomb. This bar and restaurant has already won awards for its modern tapas inspired by Spain and Italy.
Firmly in the vanguard of a new wave of establishments offering flexible dining, Salt Yard gives diners the options of a full sit-down meal, coffee and a cake or drinks at the bar – the latter almost certainly need to be accompanied by the ridiculously more-ish bar snacks on offer from spicy guandilla peppers to quail’s eggs with paprika salt.
Don’t forget the raison d’etre here – the fine, perhaps even unrivalled selection of cured meats – take a Spanish selection (Salchichon, MOrcon, Lomo and Chorizo) or go mad and treat yourself to Joselito Gran Reserva Jamon Iberico from Guijelo at only £17.00 per plate.
And the Sherry? No need to ask – here in spades, with a choice of eight big-hitters by the bottle or the glass including a light Hidalgo La Gitana Manzanilla to a rare Gonzales Byass Oloroso Dulce.
